FRANKLIN COUNTY, Vt. — Franklin County businesses and tourism organizations are beginning to ramp up for the summer season as event calendars, concerts and agricultural festivals return across northern Vermont.
Regional tourism and chamber listings show a growing number of scheduled activities in smaller communities throughout the county, including outdoor music, agricultural fairs and recreation-oriented events. Tourism remains a major economic driver for many Franklin County communities outside St. Albans, especially towns near Jay Peak and the Canadian border.
Local business leaders say summer visitors help sustain restaurants, retail shops, campgrounds and small attractions during a critical operating period. Many businesses rely heavily on warm-weather traffic after slower late winter and early spring periods.
Event organizers also hope to attract more in-state travelers as Vermont communities continue emphasizing small-town events and local experiences. Community festivals, music performances and outdoor recreation remain central to that strategy.
Tourism officials say northern Vermont’s appeal continues to center on scenic drives, agricultural heritage, outdoor recreation and smaller community events that differ from larger commercial destinations.
