Monday turned out to be a nice warm day, lots of sunshine and the temperature went up in the sixty degrees. This put the snow melt going fast, and the rivers and streams came up rapidly causing the ice jams around the state. It was also Skylar’s first stroller ride out side with her parents, and Grammy Penny. Tuesday also was another stroller ride for Skylar and again with her parents and Grammy Penny. On Sunday late afternoon and Monday during the nice warm days, I took my round pointed shovel and helped the ice off the sidewalk, got it all off and it does predict more snow for us, but just maybe I can keep it shoveled off the sidewalk if not a huge storm, our town plows push it out of the street onto the sidewalk. We miss our sidewalks when they are filled with snow and ice and we have to walk in the street to go to the PO. Our PO is much busier now with all the Center and Village mail coming into this one PO. PS..We did get snow Friday and Saturday mornings…but went away as soon as the sun came out.
3/9..The 500 Card Club met at the lovely home of Stacy Gregoire’s in Richford area, she had prepare lovely afternoon snacks for everyone. The afternoon was so peacefully warm with the sunshine coming in the windows, we had four subs playing for the regular players that were vacationing down South. At the end of the afternoon..Carmen Scott had high score 3782, second high was Sue Peters 2860, low score Nancy Martinson 1040; and Lois (me) with most horses (4). Tuesday afternoon the ice jam was over down pass the Dairy Center, just across the iron bridge on the Boston Post Road the road was closed from the ice piling up. Then when the rain came the water did rise but nothing serious like so many times before. What is weird on this side of the world from outside of Montgomery going toward St. Albans there is hardly any snow visible in the fields..up in the woods there is still plenty. When going over past the Center going to Route 100 toward Lowell there is so much snow, the fellow at the Bowling Alley said he was not going to bother sugaring this year as the snow in his bush was so deep. Some of the sugar makers think it’s going to be a short sap flow of making syrup. We just can’t always tell those things but the sugar makers seem to know.
3/11..It’s Wednesday and SueP picks me up before noon and we head to the Center to ride with Carol Farmer and Patti Perl..to the Bowling Alley. We are suddenly off and at the Alley where we meet up with the rest of the team players, only we were missing one of our players today Elsie S.had other plans, Elsie you were missed. We had the Eagle Views playing along with us. We all had a wonderful time, as there is so much laughter going on, just watching the other player play is fun for me, but then I make small mistakes keeping score and Rick or one of the players make corrections for me.
Thursday..Our St. Patricks Day Dinner at the Dairy Center, Sue Peters had business in Enosburg and I did also we went early and then got to the Dairy Center as usual to be with Friends and My Nieces had arrived and we four had a nice visit and enjoyed our dinner. Melissa had made two kinds of cookies, that she shared with us…YummmmY!!! I tried finding some green candies and there was nothing that pleased me so I got some green grapes to share. Also at our last Quilting Meeting I was given a huge tray of sun catchers that were made by Martello Glass Designs here in Starksboro, Vt. When I was given this huge tray of glass sun catchers, I had no idea what I was going to do with all of them, WELL, once I gave them all a bath, separated them, I had lots of one kind with FAITH and I gave them to our Minister to take to his Church, our Organist took some for the people at his Church in Bakersfield and I Have some for our Church members, and my nieces took a few that I had put a side for them. They all found good homes, and very beautiful colors were adored.
Friday, Sue and I went to Swanton on business, While Sue was handling her business I went in to a Sale that was going on at a Church. I found a couple of nice things and a pair of shoes with a good tread. The lady that was taking in the money for the sale was a teacher at one time here in Montgomery, she had many of the kids in her class, Frankie, Clay and Christopher, just to name a few, also Penny remembers her, Julie Griffith Snider, she was married to Bruce Snider. She remembers when I was asked to do the County Courier News for Theresa Snider, as she was going to be gone for a few weeks visiting down in Mass with Family. That was in the late 80”s or early 90’s. That is how long I have been writing the Montgomery News. The County Courier abandoned me a few years ago, so I have emails of local people and my family and friends enjoy reading my News each week. GGRREEAAATT!!!
I have about 70 people I sent to each Sunday afternoon.
3/13/14..Grammy Penny took Skylar over night and she was very good to care for. Benny is still withholding to be friends. When she cries he runs away, Penny took them all into her room, but Benny did not want to stay in, he tried to get out made so much noise, she had to get up and let him out, but Sunny is adjusting well..
Saturday, Little Skylar was here early in the morning as we were all waking up, I took her and gave her a bottle of milk, she went to sleep and I almost did also she was so warm and that was relaxing to me. Her Mommy Destiny came to pick her up at 10 a.m.. It had snowed earlier in the morning but melted off by 2 p.m. and at 2:30 another snow shower was coming in, BUT shortly after a huge snow squall was upon us and did it ever come down, we have a nice white topping again. But has let up snowing so hard. It’s 29 degrees out and the snow seemed heavier almost like sugar snow.
OH! What a surprise that was this Sunday morning, went out to sweep the snow off the porch. NO WAY.. it was frozen down, underneath the new snow it froze down and it was icy.
3/15. Early Sunday morning the local fire departments were called to a fire on West Hill. It is now after 1 p.m. and I was told the fire was at the Old School House property. There has not been much talk but when the call came needing help, it stated everyone was out of the house. Fires are so scary and so glad there were no casualties.
Our Church Service starts at 8:45 and John Gorton had prepared and came to Officiate the Service entitled his Message “Spiritual Blindness.”
