Vermont State Police reported a Franklin County saturation patrol conducted on December 9, 2025 by troopers from the St. Albans Barracks along with Vermont Fish & Wildlife game wardens. The release specifically lists Richford among the focus areas, along with Berkshire and Enosburg.

According to VSP, the patrol’s purpose included apprehending wanted subjects, DUI enforcement, identifying aggressive drivers, and broader motor vehicle law enforcement—paired with holiday-season safety messaging. The report states there were 21 traffic stops, and highlights included six individuals arrested on in-state warrants, one DUI arrest, and arrests for criminally suspended licenses.

For Richford drivers, this kind of enforcement effort is partly deterrence and partly triage: it aims to reduce impaired driving and remove repeat offenders from the road during a time of year when traffic patterns change. Holiday travel, winter road conditions, and seasonal celebrations all raise the stakes.
