Route 105 provides the east-west connection between Enosburg Falls and Richford, while Route 118 runs south toward Montgomery and eventually the Route 100 corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That geography gives East Berkshire an outsized role in everyday travel across northeastern Franklin County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Route 118 enters Berkshire from Montgomery, crosses the Missisquoi River and reaches Route 105 in East Berkshire. It then briefly follows Route 105 before turning northwest toward Berkshire Center and ultimately Route 108.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Route 105, meanwhile, continues east toward Richford and west toward Enosburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The transportation network is receiving renewed attention as the Vermont Agency of Transportation undertakes highway work on both sides of Berkshire. VTrans has a major Route 105 reconstruction project extending from Richford toward Jay and separate resurfacing work on Route 108 in Enosburg reaching the Berkshire town line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">East Berkshire is also one of two Berkshire areas \u2014 along with West Berkshire \u2014 recognized through Vermont&#8217;s village-center designation program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a village without its own municipal government, those road connections, village designation and its locally operated water district remain central to East Berkshire&#8217;s identity and future.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EAST BERKSHIRE, Vt. \u2014 East Berkshire may be small, but its location makes the village an important crossroads for residents traveling between Enosburg, Montgomery and Richford.
